The Las Vegas Raiders needed someone to grab the bull by the reigns and get this franchise back on track. Sure, that's what John Spytek and head coach Pete Carroll are now attempting to do, but it was Tom Brady who saw an opportunity and took the chance. He's now an owner of the Raiders after being involved in one of the biggest and most controversial games in NFL history against the Raiders back in his days with the New England Patriots.
And, you can already see the impact he is making as an owner, whether some want to believe that or not. It's very obvious that he has some control and is making some decisions, and some of those decisions are affecting the franchise in a good way. He's the reason that the team was even able to get Chicago Bears' new head coach Ben Johnson to factor in the Raiders during their coaching search.
And he certainly played a part in landing John Spytek, his former teammate at Michigan and co-worker with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
But. what's Brady's involvement now that he's done broadcasting and doing his daytime job? Since the Super Bowl is over now, he has to be pretty free, right? Well, yes, so much so he is always available for the Raiders to consult with.
"He's available every day," head coach Pete Carroll said. "It's been great… He consults with us, and he's really tuned into what's happening.”
Brady will likely help Spytek and Carroll over the next few months when it comes to making roster decisions, but more importantly, the most important decisions of the franchises last 20 years or so — if they draft a quarterback or not, and if so, who?
That's one of the biggest reasons the Raiders wanted Brady on board. He's doing his part so far and hopefully, we see that play into fruition over the next few months.
