Being a rookie in the NFL is not easy by any means. Being a rookie on a bad team is not easy, let alone on an offense as bad as Josh McDaniels'. The Las Vegas Raiders' rookie class has had it tough; even their No. 7 overall pick, Tyree Wilson, is having a rough year.

There really isn't one rookie, besides maybe Aidan O'Connell, but even though his year has been up and down with not playing much, he has had an amazing year. However, two rookies had an amazing game on Sunday Night Football against the New York Jets.

O'Connell played his tail off, even if the stats don't necessarily show it. But Michael Mayer had the best game of his young career, mainly because he had his first-ever touchdown, in which he "mossed" the Jets defender. Your first touchdown is usually special, so you have to celebrate in that moment. Tight ends, of all people, are known to celebrate touchdowns in a big way.

That is unless you are Michael Mayer, whose celebration was definitely different. After the game, he spoke about the celebration and reacted perfectly.

"I was blacked out," Mayer started in the locker room. "I have no idea; I have no idea what happened. I think I swung the ball or something and just kind of stared into the crowd. To be honest, I have no idea what happened. I kind of want to go back and watch, like, what the heck was I celebrating there."

Mayer's celebration consisted of a ball flick and staring into the crowd. He's definitely got to work on that because we can't have the rookie tight end looking silly when he scores again.

As far as his rookie season, he does lead all tight ends on the team in receiving yards and is fourth in receiving yards on the team. He isn't having a "bust-worthy" rookie season, but he can definitely do better. He wasn't put in the best situations when McDaniels was in town, and I see that changing soon.

Hopefully, I see the celebration change, too.
