We all know the offensive line is down right awful. It needs some extreme help. That’s a position group that make take some time to fix.
Another position group that needs help as well. The defensive line could use some help with their depth, and I know the perfect guy for the spot.
Raiders should sign former Jaguar Malcom Brown
The Jacksonville Jaguars just recently released Malcom Brown, a defensive tackle who started 17 games last season. That’s not the only thing though that should intrigue you with Brown.
The eighth-year tackle some career highs last season in some very important areas of his game.
Brown finished with 57 tackles last season, a career-high 27 assist last season, also a career high, and one pass deflection, which is ties his career-high from 2019.
The tackles stat is important, as Brown was better at stopping the run than he was getting to the quarterback. Which makes sense since that's his strength, anyway. Stopping the run is what the Raiders need help with, evidence from their two preseason games so far.
At times the Raiders couldn’t get a simple run stop on a third and short play. That’s something that can be fixed with Brown in terms of the second unit stuffing the run. Brown is huge body, at 6’2”, 320 pounds, not many people are running through him.
He also has the connection with head coach Josh McDaniels, as they were once both in New England.
Adding Brown may not seem like a huge deal, especially when you look at the guy on paper, but it seems like he is getting better every season. He could easily help the second unit defensive line in the run game, and maybe get to the quarterback once or twice. We know they are looking to add someone like that, or they wouldn't of have worked out now Chiefs defensive tackle Danny Shelton a week ago.
I think the Raiders should definitely go out and make this move.
