The Las Vegas Raiders need a ton of help on defense and may get a ton of help through the draft. They could also get that through trades. But, they shouldn't trade for one of the league's biggest trade candidates.

On Tuesday news broke that Buccaneers linebacker Devin White requested a trade, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. The Buccaneers don't want to trade him, but if White is persistent on the move, it will likely happen.

That means teams will be lining up for the All-Pro linebacker out of LSU. One of those teams may very well be the Las Vegas Raiders, considering the fact that they need a ton of help on defense.

But, they could have had him as he went one pick behind Clelin Ferrell in the 2019 NFL Draft. But, I don't think they should go after him, and here is why:

There are some really good linebackers they good get in this draft with one of their 12 draft picks, and, since it's the draft, it's cheap. Trading for White won't be.

They will have to give up draft capital, and then they will have to end up paying him soon, as his contract ends after the 2023 season, per Over The Cap. He will want top five AAV money, or average annual value. And, to some he is worth that, as White is one of the best at what he does, and has elite sideline to sideline speed.

While the Raiders probably have the money to pay that, it's giving up too much at once. They could get a guy, or two, that could produce enough for them to have a decent defense.
