The Las Vegas Raiders released fullback Jakob Johnson last week in a move that was surprising, to say the least. No one really saw it coming, considering how much Johnson gets used in the run game.

But after it happened, Antonio Pierce let everyone know there was a chance the starter could come back.

"Yeah, obviously, Jak is very important to our team with the energy and the tempo and everything he's done," Pierce told reporters. "You know the way the league works; it's day in and day out. Things change, things come up, and you have to make tough roster decisions. We'll be fine there, and then, hopefully, something works out in the near future to get him back."

On Tuesday, the Raiders brought back Johnson but made another move in order to do so. Here is what the Raiders team account tweeted out about the roster change:

We have signed FB Jakob Johnson to the practice squad. In a corresponding move, we have released TE Jesse James from the practice squad.

The Raiders may eventually bring Johnson back up.
