The Las Vegas Raiders' new regime just made a move to bring back a player that the former regime, Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler, let walk with an injury settlement.

Maybe, just maybe, they always knew that they would bring him back. But you still risk that player signing somewhere else instead when you reach an injury settlement.

Early in the year, the Raiders offensive tackle Brandon Parker, a former New England Patriots tackle, was injured, and the team thought he would be out for the entire year.

So, instead of using that injury reserve spot, they reached an injury settlement where they paid a portion of his contract up front to let him walk.

On Monday, they signed Parker back to the practice squad, which is likely just to get him in shape to be back on the 53-man when he is ready.
