The Las Vegas Raiders have been in the news all week long now. But, it isn't for the right reasons, technically. It almost seems as if one era is coming to an end, whether we like it or not.
Raider nation is one that can sometimes seem split on Derek Carr. Some love him and everything he has done for the Raiders, and some just simply don't.
Well, either way, it's very possible that we have seen the last of Carr in silver and black. The Raiders and head coach Josh McDaniels announced that Carr will be benched for the remainder of the season for both his play and contract reasons.
That means Jarrett Stidham will be the starting quarterback for the last two games, barring any injuries, of course. We have yet to see Stidham start a regular season game for the Raiders, so what can we expect from him?
“He’s tough as hell," Raiders star defensive end Maxx Crosby told reporters. "When he’s out there he’s kind of an ass**** so I respect it. … He’s a competitor at heart, you can tell.”
The Raiders like what they have seen from Stidham, or he wouldn't even be in the position he is currently in. Yeah, Carr has had some really good moments, but eventually, it was time to move on. And, right now, the Raiders have a chance at a pretty good draft pick.
Las Vegas is in desperate need of getting out of mediocrity. For all we know, Stidham could be that next guy. I guess that is something we will find out in the next two games.
