Last week, when the Las Vegas Raiders went to Tampa, Florida, to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they walked out of Raymond James Stadium not really knowing what the future held for quarterback Aidan O'Connell and his 2024 season. He was hit late by a Bucs defender in that game and had to be carted off the field with an air cast on his right knee.

Not too long after the game, we found out that the injury was not as bad as we all initially thought. Let's just be honest: The first thing everyone thought about was a potential torn ACL or something of that nature. It turns out he just has a severe bone bruise on his knee.

So, there were rumblings that AOC would try to play on Monday Night Football against the Atlanta Falcons, given that he would get an extra day of rest. But, the starter won't be able to go.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Desmond Ridder, the former Falcons starter and Arizona Cardinals practice squad player, is set to be the starter against his former team.

It seems like O'Connell just couldn't get ready to go, which is probably best for his health and well-being in a game that the Raiders would probably rather lose at this point, being that they need as high a pick as possible to land a quarterback.

After this game against the Falcons, we could see O'Connell back against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
