Every day that we get closer to the draft, it seems less likely that the Raiders will pick a Quarterback in the first round. Multiple reports have said that the Raiders won’t pick a quarterback early, and ESPN’s latest mock draft backs that up.

This week, Todd McShay released his new mock draft. In it, he talks about the chances the Raiders end up going the QB route:

“For those wondering whether Las Vegas could jump on Levis if he’s available, I’ll just say I’ve heard buzz that it isn’t interested in using a high pick on a QB unless Young or Stroud were miraculously available. Bringing in Jimmy Garoppolo fills the void, and the Raiders can always add a passer later in the draft or go hunting for a younger option next year.” – ESPN’s Todd McShay

Unless the Raiders can get their hands on Bryce Young of CJ Stoud, it seems like they will stick with Jimmy Garoppolo at the QB position.

While some fans may want the team to go young at QB, this decision is probably for the best. Both Levis and Richardson are developmental prospects and relatively high-risk picks. This draft is loaded at the top with defensive talent, and the Raiders are in a prime position to draft a difference-maker on that side of the ball.

McShay thinks the Raiders will select cornerback Devon Withersppoin with the number seven pick. Witherspoon is arguably the best cornerback prospect in this draft and would be a huge addition to the Raiders' secondary.

With Garoppolo leading the offense, the Raiders hope to bounce back from a disappointing season and make it back into the playoff picture.

If things don’t work out with Garoppolo at QB, the Raiders could look towards drafting a QB next year instead.
