The Las Vegas Raiders started the season with a ton of injuries, and they didn't get better as the season went on like it does for most teams. In fact, it pretty much got worse. They started with Malcolm Koonce on IR, and after the first few games, Tyree Wilson was injured as well. So, the Raiders had to go get someone to play across from Maxx Crosby.

They had Charles Snowden and Janarius Robinson, who have both had some good moments this year, and some bad, but they still needed another guy. Tom Telesco went out and got K'Lavon Chaisson, a former Jacksonville Jaguars first-round pick who had been thrown to the wolves and cast off as a bust.

The Raiders saw something in him, signed him, and he's had a career season. Chaisson has had some really, really good moments this year. And, he's looked like an absolute steal for the Raiders. Here is what the Raiders PR team tweeted about what he did on Sunday against the Jaguars:

With that pass broken up by DE K'Lavon Chaisson, the Raiders' defensive line now has 18 passes defended in 2024, passing the New Orleans Saints D-line for the most passes defended in the NFL among D-line units. DE K'Lavon Chaisson brings down Jaguars QB Mac Jones for a sack and a loss of 11 yards. Chaisson now has 4.0 sacks on the season, including 3.0 sacks over the last four games, tied for the sixth most in the NFL over that span.

Chaisson has already surpassed pretty much every single number he had in his entire career with the Jaguars in just this season alone. He's been great, and a guy that the Raiders will likely want to keep around as a depth piece, or even have a pretty big role if they can't bring Koonce back.

This was one of those moves that Telesco made that was genius. This move is one that should be talked about more when talking about everything Telesco has done in his first season as general manager.

The Raiders will play the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Chargers to close out their season.
