The Las Vegas Raiders were very busy on Tuesday, August 29, as they were cutting their roster down from nearly 90 players to 53. Every team has to do this by 4 p.m. EST; however, the Raiders released their initial 53-man roster several hours after the deadline.

Las Vegas also made another move that wasn't a cut but instead a trade. They traded one of their youngest players to their biggest rival, the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Raiders sent Neil Farrell, a 2022 fourth-round pick, to the Chiefs for a sixth-round pick.

That move means one thing that no one is really talking about.

What Farrell trade means for the Raiders roster

The Raiders trading Farrell means they like what they have on the defensive line. Last season, they also drafted defensive tackle Matthew Butler, and this season they drafted Nesta Jade Silvera.

Butler didn't play as they expected last season, but we have heard good things in camp about how he has improved. Butler is looking to take on a bigger role in 2023, especially with Farrell gone.

The real thing to look out for with this move is Nesta Jade Silvera, a guy who was drafted in the seventh round but has had an outstanding camp and preseason. The Raiders love what they see from him and maybe love what they see from him a little too much because it's possible he made the 53-man roster.

The Raiders had some questions on the defensive line pertaining to their depth. However, letting Farrell walk for a pick to their biggest rival must mean they like what they saw.
