Raiders: RT Jermaine Eluemunor thinks he can be as good as Ryan Ramczyk
The Raiders will need him to prove it then.
The Las Vegas Raiders offensive line started terribly last season but progressively got better. Right off the jump, they were bad. In week 1, they allowed the Los Angeles Chargers to sack Derek Carr six times.
But, as I said, they got better for sure. One of the guys who started badly but got better was right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor. In the first two weeks, he allowed seven pressures and two sacks, per Pro Football Focus advanced stats.
Then, for the rest of the season, he only allowed one sack and 19 pressures in 16 games. He definitely got better.
But, Derek Carr's brother, David Carr, recently revealed that Derek wanted to bring in Ryan Ramczyk, the right tackle in New Orleans. He then elaborated that the deal never got done, and now Carr is in New Orleans with Ramczyk.
Eluemunor saw this on Twitter but had nothing negative to say. Instead, he said that Carr didn't mean anything by it because he was the 4th right tackle on the roster, so the shot was fair. But then he said that he will be just as good as three-time All-Pro right tackle Ramczyk.
While I like the confidence, and I want him to be that good, that's not going to be an easy thing to do.
In 2018 and 2020 Ramczyk finished a second-team All-Pro, and in 2019 he was a first-team All-Pro. So, that won't be easy at all.
I will give Eluemunor credit though, as he and Ramczyk had very similar seasons last year.
Both guys gave up three sacks. Eluemunor allowed 26 pressures to Ramczyk's 20. Eluemunor finished with a PFF grade of 75.3, while Ramczyk finished with a grade of 79.5. It's close, for sure. Now though, Eluemunor has to string together good seasons.
