The Las Vegas Raiders played yet another underwhelming game and started the 2023 season the same way they started the 2022 season – 1-3 with that one win coming by way of defeating the Denver Broncos. They showed a fight at the end of the game, but it was too late.

Even in this embarrassing loss, like they have had the last few games, some guys still did their job. We like to call those guys "winners" because they did what they were supposed to and even more.

Here are the three winners from the Raiders loss to the Chargers:

Raiders winners

Tre'Von Moehrig, DB – The third-year safety has had a rough start to his NFL career; however, Sunday was a great game for him. Obviously, he had the interception, but he also had a 90.6 PFF grade against the Chargers, one of the best games he has ever played, if not the best. He also had two plays in the first quarter, where he saved a touchdown and a big gain.

The first one was his tackle on the Chargers wide receiver Davis, who ran 51 yards and almost scored a touchdown had Moehrig not been there, and the other was two plays later when he stopped a run that would have been a huge play had he not. In the past, you could have said he was a reason the Raiders lost. In this game, he was really good.

Maxx Crosby, DE – It isn't very often that the Raiders have two defensive players on their "winners" list, but Maxx Crosby was fantastic against the Chargers, and it needs to be mentioned. He had a strip sack that was taken away from him because of a penalty on a teammate, and he had two other sacks, along with constant pressure the entire game.

Crosby bounced back after a poor game last week against the Steelers, and then did even more than we expected. He also led the team in tackles with eight.

Aidan O'Connell, QB – O'Connell didn't get the win and threw the losing interception that almost sealed the game for the Chargers, but there are a lot of positives to take away from his performance. He started rough, as he couldn't really handle the pressure Khalil Mack was bringing.

Then, he showed a calm, cool, and collected feel that allowed him to make the throws he needed to make. He was amazing on the last offensive drive, besides the interception. He hit Davante Adams repeatedly, getting the ball out quickly and accurately. O'Connell showed that he can play in this league.
