The Las Vegas Raiders have made multiple moves during this off-season to bolster their roster. At the top, they added wide receiver Davante Adams and EDGE rusher Chandler Jones. They added some depth as well. One position has been lacking all off-season, though. The lack of starting talent on the offensive line could turn into a glaring hole as the Raiders get into the teeth of their regular season schedule.
Left tackle Kolton Miller is a bright spot on the unit, but he is arguably the only starter that has proven to be above average.
John Simpson is a young player at guard, but he struggled mightily at times last season for the Raiders. Jermaine Eluemunor is a veteran who hasn't held down a starting spot in the NFL for too long. Lester Cotton Sr. and Andre James both have very limited starting experience in the league.
The Raiders need much more experience at these positions.
The unit may hold back an offense that has a fantastic trio of pass-catching targets in Darren Waller, Davante Adams, and hunter Renfrow. The Raiders also have a viable running back room that should see success under HC Josh McDaniels. QB Derek Carr has shown a lot of impressive flashes.
That being said, an offensive line that may allow one of the highest pressure rates in the NFL is not something that the Raiders want to have.
Many successful teams build through the trenches. Las Vegas has done that on defense with an impressive defensive line headlined by star rusher Maxx Crosby. The Raiders will probably need to address multiple spots on the OL during the season, somehow.
