This season was nothing but a disappointment for the Las Vegas Raiders.

And for it, long-time starting quarterback Derek Carr is taking the fall. But he shouldn't be the only one. Head coach Josh McDaniels should be fired as well.

Bringing in Chandler Jones and Davante Adams, it was believed that the team would take a step forward. Somehow, they managed to look outcoached and outclassed in nearly every game. The six games they did manage to win, however, were not thanks to great schemes by McDaniels. Instead, it was because Josh Jacobs silenced any doubters and pulled out one of the most impressive rushing campaigns in recent history.

Yes, Carr could have been better. Yes, the defense should have been better. But McDaniels should have coached better.

The Raiders were a team that thrived in close games during the 2021 season. A year removed — with a huge offensive addition — they managed to come up short in those scenarios time and time again.

That falls on McDaniels.

Too often the Raiders failed to make timely adjustments. Too often they looked lost in two-minute situations. And too often McDaniels conceded when he shouldn't have.

This team looked broken under his leadership. And if that doesn't change, it will be more of the same in 2023.

Football is a game of inches. McDaniels always seems to come up one or two short.
