The Las Vegas Raiders are finally doing what they should have done a long, long time ago. They have been very bad all year but have, at times, been good enough to get some wins here and there. But that won't cut it with Raider Nation. This team hasn't won a playoff game in over 20 years, and something needs to change.
No, they didn't fire Josh McDaniels, and they aren't going to anytime soon. So, if you are still one of those fans who is tuning into every article to see if he has been fired yet or if there are any rumors, it just won't happen this year, barring something crazy happening.
No, in this instance, they are doing something as a team that they should have done a long time ago. They are holding a team meeting, and while it's great they are doing that, they should have done that after the loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, which made them start 1-2. Nonetheless, here they are.
Here is what Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported on the situation:
"Josh McDaniels opened the floor in a team meeting on Thursday to players, allowing them to voice all of their frustrations that at times have bubbled over publicly during the team's 3-4 start. Guys like Maxx Crosby, Davante Adams, and Josh Jacobs all spoke up, but so did players from every area of the roster, and nothing from personnel to the scheme to culture to coaching was off-limits. I'm told the meeting was considered by players to be very positive. It was cathartic. They got a lot of things off their chest. A chance to bond a little bit and emotionally reset before a big game on Monday night against the Lions." – Tom Pelissero
Hopefully, whatever they talked about involved the run game being bad, and hopefully fixing that, the passing game being bad, and hopefully fixing that, and the head coach just not putting them in good enough situations overall.
Now, usually, when teams have a team meeting, they almost always come out and play better than the last game. Looking at the game the Raiders just played against the Chicago Bears, that won't be hard to do. Let's see if Maxx Crosby, who Dan Campbell praised, shows up huge.
