In my recent 2025 NFL mock draft for A to Z Sports, the Los Angeles Rams sat with the No. 17 overall selection in the first round. This mock draft was the two-round variety but the Rams do not hold a second round pick. With the first round selection, I had them selecting ECU cornerback Shavon Revel.
Here is my analysis on the Revel pick from the mock draft. It’s a fit that makes a lot of sense for Los Angeles, who get one of the more talented overall athletes in the 2025 class.
17. Los Angeles Rams: Shavon Revel Jr., CB, ECU
As of today, the Los Angeles Rams are starting Cobie Durant and Darious Williams at cornerback. That position can obviously be upgraded, and Revel certainly does that from a talent perspective. He’s coming back from an injury, but his combination of size, length, ball skills, and hip fluidity is special.
The offensive line is another spot that I seriously considered at this selection, but the board did not fall well. It is also not a good offensive tackle class, and that is the major position of need. That left cornerback as a no-brainer.
Revel would be the most talented cover man for the Rams since Jalen Ramsey was a part of the team. He’s coming off of an ACL injury but is expected to be back healthy prior to the 2025 NFL Draft kicking off in April. So the injury shouldn’t hold his value down a ton.
If Revel does get selected in the first round this April, he could become only the third ECU player to be picked that high. The previous two Pirates who were first round selections were linebacker Robert Jones in 1991, and running back Chris Johnson in 2008.
