Aaron Donald is completely unwilling to admit what several Los Angeles Rams fans know as true.

In one of the first interviews since he announced his retirement, Donald pushed back on describing himself as the greatest of all time. Instead, he chose modesty in the face of praise, showing why so many around the NFL could only respect the man and player he was.

“I think for my era, yes. But everybody was different,” Donald said. “You’ve got guys that were great that I looked up to like Ray Lewis that was the greatest of his time. Polamalu, Pittsburgh guy. Lawrence Taylor. There’s different eras that it’s hard to say because the game changed so much. In the time I played, I think I held my own and did what I did to help change the game.”

Donald is really in a class of his own regarding NFL greatness.

He retired with three Defensive Player of the Year awards, tied with J.J. Watt and Lawrence Taylor for the most ever.

His appearance as a Pro Bowler became commonplace, making the list 10 times in the decade that he played in the league.

Oh, and he also has a Super Bowl in his back pocket. There is no one like Donald, yet he is still willing to give acknowledgment to those who came before him rather than take the credit all for himself.
