Rams are light-years ahead of most NFL teams, according to recent national rankings
The Los Angeles Rams offense isn’t lacking in talent heading into the 2024 season.
Don't tell the rest of the NFL, but the Los Angeles Rams may be light-years ahead of the other teams in the league.
Bill Barnwell of ESPN put together his annual offensive playmaker's rankings, compiling every team in the NFL's collection of wide receivers, running backs and tight ends. The list provides his snapshot of the talent on all 32 teams' offenses heading into the season.
The Rams, coming off a surprise playoff appearance, ranked No. 9 on Barnwell's list, a stark improvement from the 2023 No. 23 ranking.
"Kyren Williams and Puka Nacua emerged as stars last season, accelerating Los Angeles' offensive rebuild and helping create a path forward for a team that had been overly reliant on Cooper Kupp," writes Barnwell. "When Kupp, Nacua and Williams all were on the field together, Matthew Stafford posted a 72.1 QBR. That would have been the third-best mark in football over the full season, within one point of leaders Brock Purdy and Dak Prescott."
The Rams' offense is loaded. There is no hiding that fact. Williams is a star leadback. Nacua is showing signs of being better in year two. Kupp is still one of the NFL's most reliable receivers. All signs point up.
Behind the Rams' success is a team focused on staying one step ahead of the rest of the league. That is a product of Sean McVay and Les Snead.
It will still come down to how well Stafford plays in the 2024 campaign. However, the aging quarterback has no excuse not to produce when looking at his playmakers on paper.
Rams’ Matthew Stafford now has the weight of the world on his shoulders
Though the Los Angeles Rams have ample offensive talent, one NFL writer suggests success starts and stops with him.
