The Los Angeles Rams are preparing to face the Detroit Lions in Super Wild Card Weekend.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Washington Commanders requested to interview Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris for their head coaching gig.

Morris, one of the top candidates in this year's cycle, is in his third year calling plays for the Rams' defense. He was last a head coach when he took over the Atlanta Falcons during the 2020 season. He was also the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach from 2009-11.

Los Angeles has been middle of the road defensively this year, ranking 20th in EPA/play and 18th in EPA/drop back, but Morris has had to deal with questionable personnel and managed to make it a playoff unit. He's also helped maximize both Kobie Turner and Ernest Jones, both of whom are having career years.

Should the Commanders chose to hire Morris, they cannot do so until after the Rams are done in the postseason. That could mean until after the Super Bowl, which is not until February 11. But they can interview him prior to that.

Juggling interviewing for a promotion and game-planning for the team you currently work for can be a lot, but if Morris wants to step back into that role, he'll need to handle both.

Los Angeles travels this weekend to face the Detroit Lions for their Wild Card matchup this Sunday evening.
