A very familiar former NFL head coach is returning to the Nashville area to help kickstart a new football team.

Former Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher has been tanned as the Chief Advisor to guide the franchise relaunch. Before coaching for the Rams, Fisher spent 15 years with the Titans organization.

Fisher was the Rams head coach from 2012-16 during the time that they went from St. Louis to Los Angeles.

"I am excited to be part of the organization bringing the Arena Football League back to Nashville," Fisher said. "(I) have always been a big fan of Arena Football, especially the Nashville Kats when they played here. It is so entertaining with so many talented players and coaches. And in that setting, the fans become so much a part of not only the game but the overall experience."

The Kats will be a relaunch and plans to play their games at the historic Municipal Auditorium in downtown Nashville with the season opener set for Saturday, April 27, 2024.

Former Penn State football standout Gregg Johnson will be the team’s general manager.

Fisher last coached with the Michigan Panthers in 2022 in the USFL. The 65-year-old has consistently remained around the game of football for the last few years after a five-year hiatus after his NFL coaching career ended in 2016.

A new opportunity for the former Rams leader in a place he’s familiar with sounds like an ideal gig in which he should excel.
