Los Angeles Rams 53-man roster prediction: Tough calls ahead on defense, but offense can carry team to Super Bowl LX

With just days until 53-man roster cuts are due, who are the players most likely to make the Rams’ roster?

The Los Angeles Rams have wrapped up their final preseason game of the 2025 season, falling to the Cleveland Browns 19-17. The Rams finished the preseason 2-1.

Their third game was completely handled by reserve players, with very little expected contributors in the regular season seeing playing time this week, which certainly played a part in why the Rams lost the game.

With the game wrapped up and the roster cut deadline rapidly approaching, here is my prediction for the Rams’ 53-man roster.

Los Angeles Rams 53-man roster prediction

Quarterback: 3

IN: Matthew Stafford, Jimmy Garoppolo, Stetson Bennett
OUT: Dresser Winn

No real surprises here, as Winn was mainly brought in to just be another arm while Stafford was recovering from injury. I believe that Stetson Bennett has earned the right to be on the Rams’ roster, and it would be fairly difficult to stash him on the practice squad after his strong preseason.

Running Back: 3

IN: Kyren Williams, Blake Corum, Jarquez Hunter
OUT: Jordan Waters, Ronnie Rivers, Cody Schrader

Blake Corum and Jarquez Hunter have each confirmed their standing on the roster after some strong preseason performances from each in the first two games.

All three of the running backs on the outs have made strong cases throughout the preseason, but I think this is going to come down to a numbers game on the rest of the roster, and I like the Rams’ chances at being able to stash at least one of these backs on the practice squad.

Wide Receiver: 6

IN: Davante Adams, Puka Nacua, Tutu Atwell, Jordan Whittington, Konata Mumpfield, Xavier Smith
OUT: Drake Stoops, Tru Edwards, Brennan Presley, Britain Covey

Konata Mumpfield and Xavier Smith have locked up spots on the roster after several strong preseason outings from both. Smith’s prowess as a special-teams returner should cement his status on the roster.

Stoops, Edwards, and Presley each made standout plays throughout the preseason, and I imagine the Rams will want to bring in at least one onto the practice squad.

Tight End: 4

IN: Tyler Higbee, Colby Parkinson, Davis Allen, Terrance Ferguson
OUT: McClellan Castles, Mark Redman

Much like quarterback and running back, there’s little surprises here in the tight end room. The top of the room is completely locked in. Maybe the Rams can flip a last-minute trade of Parkinson or Allen, but I’d be surprised if both of them aren’t on the Rams’ initial 53-man roster.

Offensive Tackle: 5

IN: Alaric Jackson (IR candidate), Rob Havenstein, DJ Humphries, Warren McClendon Jr., David Quessenberry
Out: AJ Arcuri, Trey Wedig, KT Leveston

McClendon and Quessenberry sat out game three, which should be an indicator that they will make the roster, even if I’m skeptical about them both. Alaric Jackson’s IR candidacy makes this a tricky room to project.

Interior Offensive Line: 5

IN: Steve Avila, Coleman Shelton, Kevin Dotson, Beaux Limmer, Justin Dedich
Out: Wyatt Bowles, Ben Dooley, Willie Lampkin (IR candidate), Mike McAllister, John Leglue, Dylan McMahon

The Rams’ starting group is completely set between Avila, Shelton, and Dotson. Despite some (foolish) speculation about Limmer’s roster spot, there’s been enough on tape to echo the Rams’ belief in his potential still, and he should remain on the roster. Dedich should serve as the primary backup guard, but Limmer can also fill in there as well.

Of any of the “outs”, Willie Lampkin was the only player I’m convinced made a strong enough performance to earn a spot on the roster, but a recent injury allows the Rams to stash him on injured reserve for a year and keep his spot open.

Defensive Tackle: 6

IN: Kobie Turner, Braden Fiske, Poona Ford, Tyler Davis, Ty Hamilton, Desjuan Johnson
OUT: Bill Norton, Da’Jon Terry, Jack Heflin, Decarius Hawthorne, Larrell Murchison

This has a chance to be the strongest unit on the Rams’ roster in 2025, and the Rams would be wise to keep their depth intact here. Davis, Hamilton, and Johnson have each turned in strong film throughout the preseason and have earned a spot.

Murchison could sneak his way onto the roster, but it could come down to a numbers game here for him.

EDGE Rusher: 4

IN: Jared Verse, Byron Young, Josaiah Stewart, Nick Hampton
OUT: Brennan Jackson, Josh Pearcy, Jamil Muhammad

I think Keir Thomas ending up on injured reserve and out for the season adds some insurance for Jackson’s odds on the roster, but it might come down to a numbers game here once again. The Rams’ top three spots are locked up with Verse, Young, and Stewart, while Jackson has produced some strong moments in the preseason and ended on a high note against Cleveland.

Keep an eye on all three cuts to end up on the practice squad.

Inside Linebacker: 5

IN: Nate Landman, Omar Speights, Pooh Paul, Shaun Dolac, Troy Reeder
Out: Eli Neal, Tony Fields II

Sean McVay all but confirmed postgame that undrafted rookie phenom Shaun Dolac has made the 53-man roster after the loss to Cleveland. Reeder is the only hesitation I have, since he sat out the entire preseason; however, his experience and familiarity with the scheme make me think he’s likely to be locked onto the roster.

Cornerback: 5

IN: Darious Williams, Ahkello Witherspoon, Cobie Durant, Emmanuel Forbes, Josh Wallace
OUT: Derion Kendrick, Charles Woods, Cam Lampkin, Shaun Jolly, A.J. Green

This could be a numbers game here so the Rams can add insurance at other spots. That CB5 spot could likely be a week-by-week practice squad call-up game to begin the season, but I would personally give Josh Wallace the nod for CB5 if the Rams do intend to pick one. It’s a bit of a logjam here, but Wallace sitting out the last game makes me feel strong about his chances.

Safety: 4

IN: Kamren Kinchens, Kamren Curl, Quentin Lake, Jaylen McCollough
OUT: Nate Varcacel, Malik Dixon-Williams, Tanner Ingle

The top four were virtual locks for the roster, even though I remain skeptical on McCollough as a serious contributor. Tanner Ingle had such a strong preseason, particularly playing well on special teams, that I have a hard time leaving him off of my predictions, but it might just come down to a numbers game that leaves him off the roster.

Specialists: 3

IN: Joshua Karty (K), Ethan Evans (P), Alex Ward (LS)
OUT: N/A

I am still somewhat concerned on Joshua Karty’s inconsistency, but the Rams should still stick with him until completely proven otherwise. Ethan Evans has remained a strong punter throughout the preseason and has the spot completely locked up.
