The Los Angeles Rams have officially wrapped up their 2025 NFL Draft class, adding six new players to the roster.
Here is their haul in the 2025 NFL Draft:
- Round 2, Pick 46: Terrance Ferguson, TE, Oregon
- Round 3, Pick 90: Josaiah Stewart, EDGE, Michigan
- Round 4, Pick 117: Jarquez Hunter, RB, Auburn
- Round 5, Pick 148: Ty Hamilton, DT, Ohio State
- Round 5, Pick 172: Chris Paul Jr., LB, Ohio State
- Round 7, Pick 242: Konata Mumpfield, WR, Pitt
On top of this, the Rams also added a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, courtesy of the Atlanta Falcons.
In a vacuum, this is a really solid overall haul for the Rams, adding players at key areas of need at tight end, linebacker, and edge rusher.
Chris Paul likely starts Day One for the team next to Omar Speights, he's too talented not to. I'd be surprised if Terrance Ferguson doesn't earn a significant chunk of playing time early on as well, despite the veterans in the tight end room in Tyler Higbee, Colby Parkinson, and Davis Allen.
Josaiah Stewart will also likely play a key role as part of the Rams' rotation on defense, and it wouldn't surprise me to see him start either.
The decision to trade up for Jarquez Hunter and Ty Hamilton was an odd one at the time, and I don't love the decision to part with a fourth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft in that pursuit. However, the value those two can bring to this team is worth it overall, in my opinion.
Hunter provides an explosive back to a running game in desperate need of that, and he can also play special teams. With Kyren Williams in the last year of his deal, and both he and Blake Corum already battling injuries in their NFL career, the Rams need a back with serious juice in the room if either of them misses time. Hamilton was a clear reflection of their desire to improve the run game after getting embarrassed by the Eagles in the playoffs last season.
However, my favorite pick of all might just be Pitt WR Konata Mumpfield. His modest testing and frame might not be appealing at first glance, but he just has a knack for getting open with his route running. Additionally, he's a tough, sharp player who likely blew all of the Rams' character checks out of the water. He feels like a very sneaky candidate to make the Rams' opening day roster. Don't be surprised if he makes a lot of noise in the preseason.
The only real downside or negative that I could point to for the Rams in this is the complete lack of investment at defensive back in the draft. It's a weird room at both cornerback and safety that simultaneously feels like it has too many players but not enough talent. Many expected them to invest early in a cornerback, but that didn't happen at all in the draft.
Does this point to a potential reunion with Jalen Ramsey? I have no idea, but that idea has plenty of merit and steam behind it, and would explain their lack of investment there in the draft.
I think many will also be surprised that they didn't add a single quarterback in the draft, but after they traded out of the first round, it felt less and less likely that they cared about any of the quarterbacks this go around (which is smart).
Overall, this is a solid draft class for the Los Angeles Rams that reinforced their key areas of need and added some explosive talents on offense. They learned their lessons from last season well and that has reflected in their approach to the entire offseason and draft class.
Were there a couple of picks I would have taken a different player? Certainly. However, I think the Rams nailed the right archetype of player that they needed, and they added players that boost the locker room tremendously. This is a good building block draft for the Rams heading into a pivotal 2025 season.
