The Los Angeles Rams training camp has felt incomplete to start. The reason for this being they’ve been without starting QB Matthew Stafford. Following their preseason win over the Dallas Cowboys, head coach Sean McVay shared news that probably sounds like music to fans’ ears.

Stafford has been dealing with a back injury throughout training camp, and in recent weeks, some had even speculated that it could be serious enough to impact his availability to start the regular season. Instead, he will thankfully be making his camp debut on Monday.

In addition to his significant impact on the field, Stafford’s leadership is invaluable to the Rams’ offense and the team as a whole. It’s safe to assume Stafford will be gradually worked back into snaps. It doesn’t really matter the amount he takes on Monday, though; his presence on the field matters tremendously. With Stafford being a seasoned vet, I personally don’t think it matters whether or not he sees time in the preseason. The goal now should be to ensure he is in regular season shape and that he and the team feel comfortable with the status of his back by week one.

McVay also shared that Stafford was able to get significant work in on Saturday despite not being active for the game. Saying Stafford “threw more than 60 passes” as well as sharing that “there were no limits to the type of throws he made.” QB 1 seems ready to go, and we will see on Monday if there’s any rust from missing the last couple of weeks. I, for one, am never going to doubt Stafford, who has shown time and time again that he is one of the toughest players in the NFL.
