Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford could set a new NFL record before he retires that he doesn't want to have

There are a lot of NFL records that seem next to impossible to ever being topped, but eventually they all seem to fall. Unfortunately for Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, he could find himself No. 1 in a category that he doesn't want to be leading.
According to Pro Football Reference, Stafford has thrown the second-most pick-sixes in NFL history with 30, trailing only Brett Favre, who threw 32. Favre has also thrown the most total interceptions ever with 336. Stafford won't come anywhere close to that, ranking 36th with 188.
An interception being returned for a touchdown can sometimes be on the QB, but not always. A lot of the time it's just a great job by the defender finding a way to get it to the endzone. Regardless, it definitely stings more when an INT is taken back for six, and all blame is put squarely on the passer.
Stafford has done a good job over the past decade of limiting interceptions, with the exception of the 2021 season (his first in Los Angeles), when he threw 17. He threw three pick-sixes that year, but oddly enough, the Rams would go on to win the Super Bowl. In 2024 Stafford threw just eight picks, the fewest of his career in a season which he's played at least 10 games.
It would be unfortunate if Stafford ends up as the all-time leader in pick-sixes thrown, but the good news is that the other QBs who round out the top five in that department (Favre, Dan Marino, Joe Namath, Peyton Manning) are all in the Hall of Fame. Stafford could also be on his way there, especially if he wins a second Super Bowl ring. Stafford currently ranks 10th all-time in passing yards (59,809) and passing TDs (377).
Los Angeles Rams’ haul in latest ESPN 7-round mock draft solves very little of their needs, keeps holes on roster open
ESPN released their latest 7-round mock draft for the 2025 NFL Draft. For the Los Angeles Rams, this 7-round haul was a…curious haul of players that doesn't provide a lot of hope for the future. For a team that seems like they want to be aggressive building around Matthew Stafford for one final Super Bowl […]
