Whether the Los Angeles Rams use the No. 19 pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft is beside the point.

With an eye on another NFL playoff appearance, the team needs to bolster the defense and sure up the offensive line to ensure Matthew Stafford remains upright throughout the 2024 season.

The good news is A to Z Sports' Destin Adams' recent pre-Super Bowl 2024 NFL mock draft has the Rams securing an offensive lineman out of Georgia and a linebacker out of NC State.

Let's take a look at what A to Z Sports had to say about the selection.

"A player that I think ends up going higher than people are projecting is Geoirgai OT Amarius Mims, who, this time last year, was being projected as a top-ten pick. His injury this past year led him to only play in seven games, which has hurt his draft stock, but there will be teams questioning if the player many viewed as a blue chip prospect just a year ago is still in there."- Destin Adams.

Mims, if available at pick No. 19, would be a can't-miss prospect. At 6-foot-7, 340 pounds, Mims has the size and strength to be elite at the NFL level. Scouts said he possesses the necessary techniques to react quickly and absorb the pass rush.

His fit in Los Angeles almost makes too much sense.

LB: Payton Wilson, NC State

Wilson looks like the type of player that can thrive for a Rams defense that is looking to play fast in 2024.

"I have them taking North Carolina State LB Payton Wilson. I have Wilson as my top LB in this upcoming class and his incredible ability in coverage will be an asset for whichever NFL team selects him. And with the Rams having to face so many dynamic playmakers in the NFC West getting a player like Wilson in the second round could be a match made in heaven."- Destin Adams.

A match made in heaven is correct. The defense is a priority for the Rams, and nailing the first two picks will be central for Los Angeles to compete for a Super Bowl in the 2024 NFL season.
