Free agency is still over a couple of weeks away but teams are getting books in order ahead of time.

The Los Angeles Rams have made a roster move by cutting C Brian Allen, who was a fourth-round pick by the team in the 2018 NFL Draft.

By making the move, the Rams are able to clear $4.9 million in cap space and will have $3.1 in dead cap with the move. Over the last five seasons, Allen has played in 50 games with the Rams and made 32 starts.

During the 2023 season, Allen appeared in just five games with no starts. Before the 2022 season, Allen signed a three-year deal worth $18 million. For the 2024 season, Allen was scheduled to be a cap hit of nearly $7.3 million.

Coleman Shelton started 17 games for the Rams last season and is under contract through the 2024 season.

With today’s move, a veteran center is now going to have the ability to land with another team. At 28 years old, Allen will soon have more NFL interest following the release.
