The Los Angeles Rams are hoping to take another step towards winning the NFC West with victory over the New York Jets, and they received a boost before kickoff.

While the New York defense has not played up to its usual standards this season, it still has playmakers capable of making life very difficult for the Los Angeles offense.

But the Jets will be devoid of one such player for the Week 16 matchup at MetLife Stadium.

The Jets ruled out defensive tackle Quinnen Williams because of a hamstring injury.

Williams was added to the Jets' inactives list after testing his injury out before pregame warmups, with the results clearly not satisfactory.

It means the Jets will be without a defender who has 50 pressures this season, per Pro Football Focus, tied for the fifth most among interior defensive linemen.

Among the 42 quarterbacks with at least 50 pressured dropbacks this season, Rams signal-caller Matthew Stafford's passer rating of 53.2 when pressured is the sixth-worst.

Yet with Williams removed from the equation, the odds of the Jets creating the disruption to make Stafford uncomfortable are reduced.

For a Rams team that can ill-afford any slip-up if they are to win the NFC West for the first time since 2021, that is clearly excellent news.
