The name of the game for the Los Angeles Rams defense is improvement.
For the Rams that means adding playmakers to a defense that over-archived during the 2023 regular season.
And a game wrecker may have just hit the market.
Recently, the Philadelphia Eagles gave veteran edge rusher Haason Reddick permission to seek a trade, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
With Reddick looking for a new home, Los Angeles could be a perfect trade partner.
Tied to Reddick's desire to leave Philadelphia is a new lucrative new contract. At age 29, it could be the last massive payday of his career. The Rams could give him that.
Adding more context to a possible Reddick deal is that the Rams are in win-now mode. With an interesting blend of young and old talent, Reddick, in his age 30 season, could step in and be a difference-maker immediately.
It would be a match made in heaven.
In the last four seasons, Reddick has logged double-digit sacks of 12.5, 11, 16 and 11.
That is production the Rams could use immediately.
As for the mechanics of the deal, that is harder to pinpoint. An amalgamation of draft capital could be enough for Les Snead to pull the trigger on solving one of the biggest problems of the 2023 team – the pass rush.
Rams’ Matthew Stafford still in elite company in recent NFL QB rankings
The Los Angeles Rams are starting to realistically think about a Matthew Stafford succession plan.
