The Los Angeles Rams have a not-so-secret weapon the team must utilize tactfully in the team's Week 14 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens.
With the Rams squeaking back into the NFL Playoff picture, running back Kyren Williams has to be a constant feature in the offense because of how efficient he's been since his return from injury reserve.
In the Rams' Week 12 win over the Arizona Cardinals, Williams racked up 200 yards from the line of scrimmage. He ran for 143 yards on 16 attempts and added six catches for 61 yards and two touchdowns.
In Week 13, a win over the Cleveland Browns, Williams again carried his share of the offensive load. Against the typically stout, but not so on the road, Browns' defense, he ran for 88 yards and hauled in 24 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Williams' production isn't an aberration — it is the norm. He currently ranks among the league's most efficient running backs based on expected points added per rush and success rate, according to Summer Sport.
No running back has a higher EPA per rush than Williams. Three running backs do have a higher success rate: Gus Edwards (Baltimore Ravens), Christian McCaffrey (San Francisco 49ers), and D’Onta Foreman (Chicago Bears).
So, as the Rams prep for the AFC North-leading Ravens, featuring Williams is a must.
Baltimore has allowed 102.3 rushing yards per game. In the last three, that number has ballooned to 133.3.
With the Rams riding a three-game win streak, partly on the back of Williams, the team can't stray away from what has been a winning formula — especially when the playoffs appear within grasp if it sticks to what has worked of late.
