The Rams still have plenty of free agent options left after slow first day of free agency

After signing just two players on the opening day of free agency, the Rams have plenty of options left.

The Los Angeles Rams kicked free agency off with a bang, bringing in cornerback Jaylen Watson from the Kansas City Chiefs and former New England Patriots long snapper Joe Cardona. However, their activity tallied off after that despite several spots on the roster still needing to be addressed.

Fortunately, there is still plenty of talent up for grabs after the first day of free agency, and the Rams would be wise to buy-low here.

CB Rock Ya-Sin

Rock Ya-Sin isn’t the flashiest cornerback in the league, but he is rock-solid and dependable. He’s a savvy vet with good physicality and production. From 2022 to 2025, Ya-Sin allowed 778 total yards and five touchdowns while recording 16 pass breakups. For comparison’s sake, Emmanuel Forbes gave up 715 yards and seven touchdowns alone for the Rams last season.

For Los Angeles, Ya-Sin would be a smart addition to fill out the depth in the room and give them a veteran presence in the secondary. They are a Trent McDuffie/Jaylen Watson injury away from trotting out Emmanuel Forbes again at cornerback, something I’m sure they might not be eager to repeat.

S P.J. Locke

The Rams have their starting tandem locked up with Kamren Curl and Kam Kinchens, but the depth in the room could use some insurance. With how frequently the Rams play with 6 DBs on the field, they could use more bodies to rotate in at safety, especially if they plan on deploying Curl closer to the box like they did throughout the playoffs.

Locke worked with Rams’ safeties coach Chris Beake in Denver and is fresh off of a strong 2025 season. He could work in as a rotational “center field” safety in lieu of Curl in those situations.

QB Sam Howell

Before Howell was traded to the Seattle Seahawks, the Rams were reportedly in the running to try and trade for him. Now, he’s hitting the open market. With Jimmy Garoppolo hitting free agency with some evidently strong suitors lining up to pursue him, the Rams could be in the market for an experienced, cheap backup to replace him. Why not Howell once again? He spent 2025 with a McVay protege in Kevin O’Connell in Minnesota, as well as the Philadelphia Eagles.

G/C Brock Hoffman

The Rams have been eyeing shoring up the interior of their offensive line after a poor season from swing lineman Justin Dedich. Hoffman has played all three interior spots throughout his professional career, and is a crafty, physical technician who does an excellent job making up for his relative lack of athleticism with high-end technique. He’s a physical finisher, and his power fits right at home in the Rams’ gap rushing attack.
