The Los Angeles Rams have a new man to help Sean McVay coordinate the passing game in 2024.

Having lost passing game specialist Jake Peetz to their NFC West rivals the Seattle Seahawks, the Rams have turned to the college ranks to fill the void.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Rams have hired Iowa State offensive coordinator Nate Scheelhaase as their new passing game coordinator.

A former quarterback at Illinois, Scheelhaase had been at Iowa State since 2018, working in a variety of roles on the offensive side of the ball. In his time on the Cyclones staff, Iowa State won the Fiesta Bowl with San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy as their signal-caller at the end of the 2020 season.

While Scheelhaase is unlikely to be able to tell the Rams anything they didn't already know about the quarterback for the team they will be trying to dethrone in the NFC West next season, they'll hope the highly regarded young coach can prove a useful assistant to Sean McVay as the Rams look to take their passing game success down the stretch last season into 2024.

The Rams caught fire over the course of the final seven weeks of the regular season. They were fourth in dropback Expected Points Added per play and success rate between Week 12 and Week 18.

Los Angeles also made another hire on offense on Monday, adding former Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Dave Ragone as their new quarterbacks coach, per Schefter.
