‘I gotta see him twice a year’ — Dolphins’ young defensive standout gets a major nod of respect from one of Miami’s fiercest rivals

The recent history between the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills has been, well, let’s just say one-sided. But these teams have a deeply rooted history with one another — one that has featured fierce games on the biggest stages and heartbreak on both sides. One of the biggest issues challenging the current Miami Dolphins amid their head-to-head showdowns with Buffalo is finding any answer, at all, for slowing down QB Josh Allen.

Miami, as you would expect, is hopeful that second-year pass rusher Chop Robinson can be a big piece of that puzzle. Robinson was electric as a rookie and showed massive growth throughout the second half of his rookie season. And now, thanks to a recent interview, we know that Chop’s early growth and performance have earned the respect of Allen’s best protector.

Robinson drew praise from Bills left tackle Dion Dawkins during an interview with former Dolphins offensive tackle Terron Armstead for Armstead’s show, ‘The Set.’

Chop Robinson gets praise from one of Miami’s fiercest rivals

“I actually like Chop. He’s growing. And he’s just going to get better, and he’s already good…and he’s in my division. So I gotta see him twice a year. I like the kid, he’s somebody that I think about now…this ain’t no slouch. He’s gonna play, so I’m gonna play too. I respect him enough, that I respect his game that I’ve got to be on my game.”

In two games versus Buffalo last year, Robinson was credited with five pressures on 32 pass rush opportunities, posting a sturdy 15.6% pressure rate. Dawkins was tested at times by Robinson’s pure speed and ability to convert that into power. Still, Dawkins got plenty of wins of his own, and Robinson went on record this offseason to say that Dawkins gave him his “Welcome to the league” moment last season.

The respect appears to be mutual. Now, here’s hoping that Robinson can help the Dolphins create a bit more of a mutual rivalry starting in 2025, too.
