The last few years haven’t been kind to the Miami Dolphins when the team makes the northeastern trek to Orchard Park, New York.
The Dolphins (8-5) have an opportunity to rectify its recent struggles on the road against the Buffalo Bills (10-3) on Saturday night. However, Miami will have to overcome multiple obstacles in order to leave Buffalo victorious.
Not only will the snowy and blustery conditions put the Dolphins at a disadvantage this weekend, but Bills quarterback Josh Allen has had Miami’s number over the years.
Allen boasts a 4-0 record at home against the Dolphins. He’s put up some impressive numbers along the way as well.
Allen has completed 80-of-119 passes (67.2%) for 899 yards and 10 touchdowns with just two interceptions at home against Miami. He hasn’t just been winning, he’s been dominating.
Perhaps the Dolphins’ pass rush is able to affect Allen, who will be less of a factor in the running game due to the weather conditions.
On top of that, Miami should be able to find an edge in the film room. Allen’s mediocre performance against the New York Jets last week could serve as a teaching point.
The Dolphins could pull within a game with a win. Getting back in the win column is critical as the regular season winds down.
Miami’s offense is capable of outscoring just about anybody, but the unit is in desperate need of a regroup. Though Buffalo aims to pull even in the season series, it’s quite possible these two teams could meet for a third time in the postseason.
If the Bills hold onto home field advantage throughout the playoffs, the Dolphins will look back on this game as a blueprint in case a third meeting comes to fruition.
