Following a knee injury on Thursday, Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey was expected to miss six to eight weeks. That has now changed following the latest news.
On Friday morning, Ramsey underwent a full meniscus repair, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. This possibility was reported to be the worst-case scenario for the Dolphins cornerback and it will knock him out until December. Early reports indicated doctors would have to decide if they had to repair or remove the meniscus.
"Ramsey expects to be back for the playoff push," added Rapoport on Twitter.
The news comes after an offseason in which the Dolphins tried to accomplish one vision: Have the best cornerback room in the entire NFL to win an AFC loaded with elite talent at quarterback. Even within the division, Miami has to worry about facing both Aaron Rodgers and Josh Allen twice. Adding Ramsey was supposed to make that easier.
Now, the Dolphins likely need to get into the playoffs without him first for a shot at seeing what Ramsey can do next to Xavien Howard. As a result, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio turns to a young group of cornerbacks who will have to step up in his absence.
