The Miami Dolphins and the Indianapolis Colts were in a trade standoff for star running back Jonathan Taylor, A to Z Sports' Destin Adams reported earlier in the month.

On Wednesday, reports emerged on what exactly was the holdup. And buddy, believe me when I tell you, it's clear why the sides failed to agree to a deal ahead of the cutdown deadline.

According to Barry Jackson from the Miami Herald, the Colts made wild demands to the Dolphins including wide receiver Jaylen Waddle "and more."

It's not a surprise then that trade never ended up taking place. One has to even wonder if the Colts were serious if those demands are indeed true. Asking the Dolphins to give up Waddle is a conversation-ender.

The star wide receiver caught 75 passes for 1,356 yards and eight touchdowns in 2022 and shows no signs of slowing down. He's a cornerstone of Mike McDaniel's speed-centric offense.

In other words, he's one of the biggest reasons why the Dolphins could win the AFC East for the first time since 2008. Giving him away for Taylor, who plays a position whose value keeps going down year after year is a foolish demand.

Taylor wasn't traded at the cutdown deadline and will start the 2023 NFL Season on Reserve/PUP, which will keep him from playing at least the first four games of the season.
