While there have been some tough moments this season for the Miami Dolphins, the overall product has been great, and the team is in complete control of its playoff destiny right now.
With the top spot in the AFC East, Miami looks like a lock to make the playoffs, and they might even have a chance of earning one of the higher seeds as well with three teams tied at 8-3.
Six games to go is still a lot of time in the NFL, and the Dolphins can make their lives in the playoffs much easier if they can show up during this upcoming stretch.
Miami is in a bit of a unique spot given they have three games against inferior opponents, games that should be very easy wins, and three games against tougher opponents, and the good news there is that one of those games is against the Ravens; the top team in the conference right now.
The Dolphins should be able to win their next three with general ease, and will then have a chance to prove themselves and improve their playoff standings with games against the Cowboys, a very beatable team, the Ravens, the top team that Miami is chasing, and the Bills, a team that has fallen apart after beating the Dolphins earlier this year.
There is a very real chance that Miami could go 5-1 during this stretch and finish their season 13-4. That would be more than good enough to secure home field advantage for the majority of the playoffs and would also ensure that Miami is prepped for the intensity of the playoffs once they actually start.
It may not be perfect as of right now, especially with a lot of football to play, but the Dolphins have a clear path forward to making life easier; win. It doesn't get much simpler.
