Picking the best Day 3 draft targets for the Miami Dolphins ahead of the 2024 NFL Combine

It's quite the long fall for the Dolphins down the draft board after they make their pick with the 55th overall selection in the second round.  The Dolphins don't pick again until Day 3, when they have selections in the fifth, sixth, and seventh rounds.

I previously made picks for the Dolphins in the first and second rounds, going with Oregon center Jackson Powers-Johnson and Miami safety Kamren Kinchens.  With plenty of talent on the board and several key areas to address, there are opportunities for the Dolphins to find some very useful players on the draft's final day.

The Miami Dolphins should select Kansas State TE Ben Sinnott with the 157th overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Dolphins' tight end room was very disappointing in 2023.  Durham Smythe was the team's de facto #1 tight end, and that's simply not good enough.  Tyler Kroft was a complete non-factor, and Julian Hill largely failed to impress.

Sinnott has good size at 6'4", 254 pounds.  His calling card is versatility at H-back and tight end, which could be something that Mike McDaniel could use to his advantage schematically.  That is, if he's still there in the fifth round when the Dolphins go back on the clock.

The Miami Dolphins should select Miami guard Javion Cohen with the 186th overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft

The Dolphins double up at an important positional area here by spending a second pick on the interior of their offensive line.

Cohen is a physical specimen at 6'4", 319 pounds.  He has the size and physicality to be a potential force in the run game.  There is a question as to whether he fits in a quicker, outside zone scheme.  However, the Dolphins truly need to get more physical on their line, and Cohen is the type of player to fit that bill.

He could answer some big questions about his quickness and footwork with a strong showing in Indianapolis.

The Miami Dolphins should select Tennessee CB Kamal Hadden with the 200th overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Hadden could end up being a steal if he's still available this far down in the draft.  The Tennessee corner ended up having an outstanding season for the Vols in 2023, with his 90.3 Pro Football Focus grade being tops in the SEC into mid-October.

That is, until Hadden suffered a shoulder injury against Alabama that ended his season against the Alabama Crimson Tide in October.  Still, he has the upside to turn into a very good pro, and on Day 3, that's the upside you're looking for.

The Miami Dolphins should select Washington LB Edefuan Ulofoshio with the 239th pick of the 2024 NFL Draft.

The seventh round is a place to get productive special teams players with athletic upside to bank on, and that's what Ulofoshio provides.  While he reportedly had some busts in assignments during Senior Bowl week, his overall body of work has been good enough to warrant a shot at the end of the draft.  In 2023, he earned third-team AP All-American honors and was a Butkus Award finalist.

Final Word

It would have been nice for the Dolphins to be able to address some of their roster issues in the middle rounds, but unfortunately having no picks in the third or fourth rounds complicates the strategy.  We'll see soon enough if some other options become potentially available once the Combine is concluded on Sunday.
