The Miami Dolphins are moving on from cornerback Xavien Howard in an unexpected move that will clear over $18 million in salary cap space in June.
Naturally, the move caused controversy among fans expecting Howard to stick around for a good while, specially since he has only played for the Dolphins since arriving in the NFL back in 2016.
Jalen Ramsey was among those with a strong reaction to the news as he posted on Twitter/X that "shid be crazy how stuff plays out sometimes."
Not only that, but the three-time First-Team All-Pro went on to call Howard the G.O.A.T. Dolphins cornerback in history.
Ramsey didn't stop there, though, as he took the opportunity to take yet another shot at former Dolphins defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.
"I'll never forgive dude for not utilizing our full skillset!" posted Ramsey on Twitter/X.
Ramsey's stance on Fangio shouldn't be a surprise for anybody paying attention. It's clear players were not happy with his coaching, which reportedly was a big factor in his departure from the Dolphins.
Specifically in Ramsey's case, though, there was a case of unhappiness in terms of usage. Fangio's defensive scheme kept things static, which is a strength in the sense that his units don't give anything away pre-snap. However, Ramsey's talents were wasted as Fangio didn't have his cornerbacks shadow top receivers. This led to Jalen giving away the gameplan before the Dolphins played the Cowboys during the 2023 season.
The good news is those issues are about to change. New Dolphins DC Anthony Weaver has spoken about Ramsey being a chess piece and he comes from a very versatile defense in the Baltimore Ravens. Unfortunately, Howard won't be a part of his plans.
