The Miami Dolphins are adding a 37-year-old veteran sack machine to their defense.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport, the Dolphins are signing All-Pro defensive end Calais Campbell.

Campbell told reporters back in January that he was "leaning toward" playing in 2024, but needed some time to think about it.

“I’m gonna go through my process, but I’m leaning toward playing again,” Campbell said, via Kelly Price of Fox 5 Atlanta. “I mean, there’s no guarantees once I go through that process. But the way I feel right now, my body and stuff, I feel like if we were playing this week in a playoff game, I’d be dominant and feel really good. And so, I mean, I’m sure I’m going to feel good in a few weeks … I don’t see myself just wanting to walk away.”

Campbell will enter his 17th season and turn 38 in September, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have plenty of juice left in the tank.

Just last year, Campbell started all 17 games for the Atlanta Falcons, which was the first time in his career that he dodged an injury.

Campbell finished the 2023 season tied for the team lead in sacks with 6.5, a number he had not seen since 2019. He logged 56 total tackles, including 10 tackles for loss and 17 QB hits.

Originally a second-round pick of the 2008 NFL Draft out of the University of Miami, Campbell played nine seasons with the Arizona Cardinals before heading to Jacksonville for three years and then playing three seasons with Baltimore.

In 16 NFL seasons so far, Campbell has earned a first-team All-Pro nod, six Pro Bowls, was a member of the 2010 all-decade team, and was named Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year 2019.
