The Miami Dolphins have dominated so far throughout the 2023 NFL season, but their mind is on the ultimate prize.

And to get one step closer, the Dolphins hope to clinch first place, not just in the AFC East, but in the AFC as a whole. This would earn them a bye the first week of the playoffs.

In order to do that, they are keeping a very close eye on one of the games in Week 14, which could give them an advantage heading into the final weeks of the season.

The Palm Beach Post's Joe Schad explained that if the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Buffalo Bills, the Dolphins odds to win the AFC East go up from 97 percent to 99 percent.

And with that, the Bills playoff odds would go down from 22 percent to 8 percent.

However if the Bills pull off the win, the Dolphins hopes for the top seed go from 34 percent to 39 percent.

So this makes it really hard for Miami fans to decide who to root for.

Why you should root for the Bills?

Despite the fact that the Bills came away with a dominating victory over the Dolphins at the beginning of October, their continued downward spiral is a good sign for Miami.

Currently, the Bills are in second place in the AFC East with a 6-6 record. And it doesn't look likely that the New York Jets or New England Patriots will catch up.

The Dolphins meanwhile are sitting comfortable with a 9-3 record.

So because of that, the Dolphins don't really need the Bills to lose because they would have to do pretty poorly in the coming weeks to lose that top spot in the division.

That's combined with the fact that Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs pose a constant threat regardless of their current struggles. They also have only one additional loss than the Dolphins, currently at the top of the AFC West with a 8-4 record.

So they aren't too far behind.

And a Bills win means that Dolphins are that much closer to taking home that top spot in the AFC.

Why you should root for the Chiefs?

The Bills already beat the Dolphins once this year and it wasn't exactly a close game. Buffalo defeated Miami 48-20.

So with that it's always hard to root for a divisional rival, especially one that has already beaten the team this year.

And increasing to a 99 percent chance to win the division isn't so bad either

Despite any personal feelings, for fans who are focused on the bigger picture, the answer is clear for who you should be rooting for.

The answer: The Bills

The Chiefs-Bills game kicks off at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday.
