The Miami Dolphins aren’t taking any chances at the quarterback position for its regular season finale.

The Dolphins are in a pickle heading into Sunday’s matchup with the New York Jets. Injuries to starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and back-up Teddy Bridgewater force the Dolphins to turn to rookie Skylar Thompson, who will get the starting nod.

Bridgewater’s dislocated pinkie finger on his throwing hand leaves the team’s depth at quarterback in question. While his status for Sunday is still up in the air, the Dolphins are hoping that he is healthy enough to serve as an emergency back-up option to Thompson.

However, Miami can’t afford to take any chances if Bridgewater is unable to suit up. So, the team went out and signed veteran quarterback Mike Glennon to the practice squad.

Glennon has started in 31 games over his eight-year career with a record of 6-25. He has a career completion percentage of 60.1 percent, throwing for 41 touchdowns to 30 interceptions.

On Saturday, the Dolphins elevated Glennon to its active roster, which doesn’t bode well for Bridgewater’s availability. However, he does provide Thompson with a veteran presence on the sidelines.

At this point in the season the quarterback market is bare. But, at the minimum, Glennon has the experience to come in on a short week on operate the offense if something happens to Thompson.
