Miami Dolphins reveal six 2025 team captains, spotlighting new voices in leadership after last year’s struggles
The Miami Dolphins have announced their captains for the 2025 NFL season.
The Miami Dolphins have made a big announcement for their 2025 season. The past week has seen teams across the NFL announce the list of captains for this upcoming season — Miami was notably absent from that group. Until today. And with the culture and leadership of the Dolphins’ locker room squarely under the microscope, this selection of players and the vote of confidence from teammates figures to say a lot about who the Dolphins are in 2025.
We now have our list. Meet the Miami Dolphins’ captains for the 2025 season, as voted on by their peers in the locker room.
Miami Dolphins announce team captains for the 2025 season
- Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa
- Center Aaron Brewer
- Fullback Alec Ingold
- Defensive Tackle Zach Sieler
- Linebacker Jordyn Brooks
- EDGE Defender Bradley Chubb
The list features two of the Dolphins’ best additions from free agency in 2024 between Brewer and Brooks. Amid the struggles that this team had in 2024, finding two success stories on the open market should be a reason for optimism as both move into their second seasons in South Florida with a chance to offer a bigger impact on the football team.
Part of Miami’s issue in 2024 was having too many new “cooks in the kitchen” with voices and pull of direction. Miami’s list is whittled significantly in the way of short-term stopgaps on one-year contracts versus 2024. General manager Chris Grier conceded as much last week.
“We also had to get younger (in 2025) so we added younger players. Like a year ago we were one of a couple teams with all the one-year vet contracts and stuff, so we’re in a different spot now adding the young players. That’s the direction we’re going right now and we’ve been very happy so far,” said Grier.
The nice thing about both new additions from 2024 being captains? They’re considered young players, too. Brewer and Brooks are both just 27 years old. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is the youngest of the bunch — he’s about half a year younger than both Brooks and Brewer but still will be 27 this entire season. Miami will now hope that this collection can keep the ship steadier than last year’s captain base, which was eight players in total. Tagovailoa, Ingold, and Sieler are returning captains, whereas Calais Campbell, Terron Armstead, David Long Jr., and Jalen Ramsey are no longer with the team. After how last season played out, change in that group may not be a bad thing.
