The Miami Dolphins acted quickly to address the sizeable hole at one of their two outside cornerback positions after losing Jalen Ramsey for much of the upcoming season due to a meniscus injury.  The team added veteran CB Eli Apple on Saturday afternoon.

As a result, Apple's presence could end up reigniting a rivalry with the Dolphins' highest profile player that took place in early 2022.

In the AFC Championship Game, then-Chief Tyreek Hill and Apple had a very memorable moment together.  With the Chiefs leading 21-10 from the Cincinnati 1-yard line with seconds left in the first half, Hill took a short pass from Patrick Mahomes and tried to break for the goal line.  Apple tackled him at the one, and the clock ran out.

The Bengals would rally for a 27-24 win that sent them to Super Bowl LVI.  It was Hill's last-ever game in Kansas City, as he was traded to Miami that offseason.

After the game, Apple and Hill took shots at each other on Twitter.

In Super Bowl LVI, the Rams scored the game-winning points late when Cooper Kupp beat Apple for a touchdown.  Hill publicly enjoyed the moment on Twitter.

Hill hadn't forgotten it by last fall either, as the Dolphins and Bengals ended up crossing paths in week 4.  Hill admitted he was looking forward to facing Apple again.

The Bengals won 27-15.  However, Hill had a monster game with 10 catches for 160 yards.  That was despite Tua Tagovailoa leaving the game with a concussion late in the first half and Teddy Bridgewater taking over.

Now, Apple is headed to south Florida, and – at least from Hill's perspective on Twitter – it could be that these two have managed to bury the hatchet.

That is until the competitive juices get flowing on the practice field, at least.  Both players are not shy about expressing themselves, and they'll be going up against each other regularly in practice each week.

However, they say iron sharpens iron, and if the Dolphins are hoping for Apple to play at his absolute best, there are few players in the league who can push him harder than the cheetah.
