Following the Miami Dolphins' dismal 19-3 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, Mike McDaniel delivered some much-needed good news to Dolphins fans.
WR Jaylen Waddle, who suffered an undisclosed injury on Wednesday during practice, isn't in serious jeopardy of missing extended time. As it turns out, per the head coach, it was indeed an injury to his oblique area.
"He's doing good," said McDaniel, pointing to his oblique area. "It was a midsection injury."
If you're wondering if Waddle is going to see any further work this preseason, it sounds like McDaniel is satisfied with his level of preparation in the offseason and camp such that he doesn't need further preseason work.
"Sometimes you have guys that end up coming up with an injury in the middle of camp after having a tremendous offseason. That's kind of what Jaylen has had. From OTAs, the onset, he's come to work and done some really good things. You never want to see anyone ever get injured, but he's banked enough quality reps that I'm not worried about his participation in the offense. It's fortunate that it's not something that will be a long-term deal. He's steadily rehabbing and working with the trainers."
Waddle has thrived in Miami, catching 179 passes for 2371 yards with 14 receiving touchdowns in two years. Fortunately, it sounds like he'll be able to start adding to those lofty numbers next month.
