The Miami Dolphins released an official summary of their 2026 coaching staff not that long ago.

Despite that release, they are apparently not done. Miami, along with the rest of the NFL franchise who have been making coaching staff swaps over the better part of the last two months, are still contributing a slow trickle of new additions as we near the 2026 NFL Combine. Per a report from CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, the Dolphins’ latest hire is a young coach who was actually in the league as a player not that long ago.

Dolphins reportedly add another college assistant to their 2026 coaching staff

Zenitz has been all over the assistant coaching hires this winter. His latest report has Kent State tight ends coach CJ Conrad has the new addition in Miami. His title will be as an ‘offensive assistant’. Conrad, who ranks among the most productive tight ends in the history of the Kentucky Wildcats program (2015-2018), was a player as recently as 2020 before getting into coaching.

As a graduate assistant with the Wildcats from 2020-2022, Conrad overlapped with new Miami Dolphins offensive line coach Zach Yenser during the 2022 season. He’s also now the third offensive assistant to come from the Kentucky program when you add in quarterbacks coach Bush Hamdan, who was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Wildcats from 2023-2024. It would seem former Wildcats head coach Mark Stoops has had some positive feedback for Jeff Hafley on his group of former assistants.

Conrad left Kentucky for Eastern Kentucky in 2023, then joined Kent State in 2024, where he served as the tight ends coach until getting the call from the Dolphins. Perhaps Conrad’s most important exposure? Current Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen. Coen was Kentucky’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2021, working with future 2nd-round draft choice Will Levis while Conrad served as a graduate assistant. Conrad could be a name to watch, as he appears to quickly be working his way up the coaching ranks.
