The Dolphins’ team needs are extensive but the 2026 NFL Draft appears to be a good match for Miami at three spots in particular
There’s no shortage of openings on the list of the Miami Dolphins team needs. This 2026 NFL Draft appears ready to provide, however.
The Miami Dolphins‘ team needs list as we are primed to enter the month of April are extensive.
Miami has no shortage of opportunities to level-up their roster in the next few weeks. The 2026 NFL Draft awaits with a chance to fill young players into roles sooner rather than later. But where is this class best equipped to help the Dolphins? Where do the Dolphins’ team needs overlap with players in the class? General manager Jon-Eric Sullivan revealed several position groups that he believes offer depth in this year’s class while talking to the media at the 2026 annual NFL Owners Meetings.
Dolphins team needs overlap with several positions in the 2026 NFL Draft

“There’s depth at the edge spot. A lot of safety depth. Inside linebacker, there’s depth and substance there. Those three positions, this draft relative to most, if you don’t get a guy in the first round, you have a chance to get a chance in the second, third round…it’s a really good wide receiver draft. (There’s) some very good players up top — there’s depth and substance to it in the second, third, fourth rounds.”

There’s probably some hints here as to where Miami will be looking for players at the end of April. Getting a lot of depth at wide receiver, safety, and on the edge is good news for the Dolphins. After all, they have massive needs at…wide receiver, safety, and on the edge. The Dolphins may not feel the same about some other spots. If that’s the case and all things are equal with Miami’s early picks? Perhaps that could serve as a tiebreaker if deciding between a few different candidates with Miami’s marquee selection at pick No. 11 overall.
Here’s what we do know. Sullivan feels good about this class in several places that Miami needs significant improvements. We should suspect he acts accordingly.
