With the 2024 NFL Draft over, the biggest offseason event is now in our rearview mirror. There will still be offseason activities and roster moves, but the offseason is about to hit a lull for a while.
Although, with that being said, there's still an event to come that has grown largely in popularity in recent years, and that's the NFL schedule release. What was once a formality is now a full-fledged televised event with analysis and social media hype.
With that being said, let's take a look at what we know so far about the Miami Dolphins' 2024 schedule.

Biggest Games on the Dolphins' 2024 Schedule
vs. Buffalo Bills (Weeks 2 and 9): This goes without saying, right? The giant that the Dolphins cannot slay to reach the top of the AFC East suffered a number of roster losses, but they still have Josh Allen and enough still left on the roster to win the division again. Have to beat them this year, particularly at home.
vs. New York Jets (Weeks 14 and 18): Provided Aaron Rodgers is back healthy this year, the Jets will be a handful for the Dolphins and every other team in the division. Not saying they win it. Just pointing out that they're going to be a factor. The Jets-Dolphins rivalry should kick up a notch this fall.
vs. San Francisco 49ers (Week 16): The defending NFC champions will be a measuring stick for how far the Dolphins are from being on or close to the same level as the league's best. The Dolphins weren't close to that ilk last year. We'll see if the 2024 version is closer against the Niners.
Primetime Matchups
The Dolphins have five primetime games. They play on Thursday night at home in Week 2 against the Bills. They have two Monday Night football matchups: vs. Tennessee in Week 4 and at the Rams in Week 10. They play on Thanksgiving night at the Packers and take on the Browns in Week 17 in Cleveland on Sunday Night Football. While it's not technically a primetime game, the Dolphins also play in the prime afternoon 4:25 pm ET slot against the 49ers in Week 16, which should also draw a lot of eyeballs.
Strength of Schedule (based off Vegas win totals, not 2023 record)
Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis has a logical system where he bases teams' strengths of schedule based on Vegas' betting win totals for each team. Given those odds take into account offseason moves, that's a much more logical system than going on the prior year's record, especially since the NFL is a cyclical league. The draft picks haven't been factored in the foregoing chart, as Sharp hasn't update them post-draft yet. As of now, the Dolphins have the eighth-easiest schedule in the league.

Revenge Games on the Dolphins' 2024 schedule
- Week 4 vs. Tennessee Titans. Does this need to be explained? The Titans rallied from a 27-14 deficit on December 11 to win 28-27. It ultimately helped cost Miami its first division title since 2008.
- Weeks 2 and 9 vs. Buffalo Bills. Another no brainer. The Bills crushed Miami in early October and then snatched the division in Week 18 at Hard Rock Stadium last season. This should be the most motivating pair of games for the Dolphins on their schedule.
5 Must-watch Matchups
- Christian Wilkins vs. the Dolphins' offensive line. This goes without saying. Miami's biggest free agent loss returns to face the team that drafted him but didn't keep him.
- C.J. Stroud, Stefon Diggs, and Tank Dell vs. Jalen Ramsey, Jevon Holland, and the Dolphins' secondary. One of the league's top young offenses will give the Dolphins' defense a true test.
- Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua vs. Ramsey and Kendall Fuller. Miami's secondary will again be put to the test by one of the top wideout duos in the league.
- Tua Tagovailoa vs. 49ers defense. One of the best defenses in the NFL will offer the Dolphins' signal caller the stiffest of tests. We'll see then whether he can prove to be worth the big money the Dolphins will likely offer him this offseason.
- Aaron Rodgers vs. David Long, Jr. and Jordyn Brooks. I don't know who will take over as the signal caller of the defense between the two this year, but Rodgers and the Jets' offense will offer a far-increased challenge in 2024.
