The Miami Dolphins' season ended on Saturday night against the Kansas City Chiefs in a very chilly Arrowhead Stadium 26-7.

In the fourth-coldest playoff game in NFL history – temperatures dipped to -9 with a wind chill factor of -28 in the fourth quarter – Miami was handled by the Chiefs on both sides of the ball.  Kansas City was far and away the more physical team on both lines of scrimmage, and the Chiefs were the ones pushing the piles in the directions they wanted to go.

It certainly begs the question of whether the Dolphins are a team that's built to win outside of ideal weather and game conditions.  Adversity is something this team did not rise to handle this year.

So, what does that mean going forward for Miami?  It means they've got to get back to work, and that applies throughout the entire building.  From coaches to players alike.  While coaches and the front office have to figure out things on a larger scale, the players have to figure out how to get ready in the offseason for next season.

In his postgame press conference, Tyreek Hill shed a little bit of light on what was discussed after the game as far going into the offseason.

"It's tough, man, especially with the type of team that we've got. Obviously, there are high expectations of everyone, and we hold ourselves to a standard. So, we were definitely expecting to be a really good team this year. Definitely wasn't expecting a first-round exit.

"The message in the locker room was simple, whenever you're working out, take this loss with you.  Remember this feeling."

That's certainly a fair message for the Dolphins' locker room to take to heart as they head into the offseason.  Many will finally get some much-deserved rest and a chance to recover from a season filled with debilitating injuries.

But when the players begin to work out again, hopefully the memory of seeing the Bills fans celebrate in their own stadium will stick with them.  Perhaps the feel of the breath-taking chill of the freezing air inside Arrowhead Stadium will cause them to shake their head.

Hopefully those failures will turn into fuel for Miami's roster as they figure out how to transform from a fringe playoff team into a true Super Bowl contender – something they were light years away from looking like on Saturday night.
