The Miami Dolphins (8-6) are going through it right now. Losers of three straight, dropping from first in the division and the second seed, to second in the AFC East and the seventh seed.
Even more so is these past three weeks have been built around disrespect for all the Dolphins have done this season.
Including a large number of Pro Bowl snubs, including the leading fan vote getter QB Tua Tagovailoa. Snubbed.
Now, just to get in the playoffs they have a tough schedule against teams who are all still fighting for their playoff lives. Starting with the hot Green Bay Packers.
The Packers were the presumed favorites going from frigid Lambeau field on the road to warm(er) Miami, FL.
Winners of three of their last five games and the re-established play of QB Aaron Rodgers. Thanks in big part to his rookie duo WR's Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson.
Surprisingly, however, the odds makers are changing their minds.
Green Bay opened the week as 1.5-point favorites on the road. Call it Christmas cheer but the Miami Dolphins have since jumped to slight 3.5-point favorites at home. With the over/under set at 50 (i.e. 27-23 Dolphins).
It's very possible the odds maker's no something the general public doesn't. Betting insiders are notoriously connected to people in the know of organizations.
Whether it's the extended rest for the Dolphins or their 5-1 record at home on the season. The Dolphins might finally be seeing some light at the end of this three-week tunnel.
